Print vs Embroidery on Hi-Vis Workwear
Branding hi-vis is a bit different from a plain tee — the fabric, the colours and the safety standards all come into play. Here's how print and embroidery stack up on hi-vis workwear.
Embroidery on hi-vis
Embroidery gives a premium, hard-wearing finish that suits a left-chest logo or a name. It handles the tough polyester fabrics of hi-vis well and looks sharp for years. It's ideal when you want a professional, understated brand mark rather than a big colourful design.
Print (DTF) on hi-vis
Digital print handles full colour and larger designs — think a big logo across the back, or multi-colour branding. It's vibrant on hi-vis and cost-effective with no minimum, which makes it the go-to for most crew branding.
The compliance bit
Hi-vis garments certified to Australian standards (AS/NZS 4602.1) rely on their fluoro area and reflective tape. Branding shouldn't cover or interrupt the reflective tape or reduce the visible fluoro area beyond what the standard allows. In practice that means keeping logos to sensible placements — left chest, a modest back logo above the tape — rather than plastering the garment. If compliance matters for your site, tell us and we'll place it right.
Which for your crew?
A left-chest logo? Either works — embroidery for a premium finish, print for full colour. A big back design or bright multi-colour branding? Print. A subtle, professional name or logo that has to survive years of washing? Embroidery. Not sure — send it over and we'll recommend the right one and show you a mock-up first.
